The government's latest pay trend survey indicates that civil servants could be in line for a modest pay rise of less than four percent this year. The survey shows that salaries of senior staff in the private sector rose 2.55 percent last year, while mid-level and junior workers enjoyed an average increase of 3.92 percent. The administration will use the figures to decide the pay award for civil servants, after listening to their demands. Last year, they were given rises of between 5.3 and 5.8 percent.
