英國一項針對年輕男性的調查發現，年輕男孩每周平均花逾兩小時瀏覽色情網站，有受訪者稱會期待女友在床上表現有如AV女優，但結果未必如此，令他們對伴侶失去性趣。

英國廣播電台一台與一間診所上月訪問了一千零五十七名年齡介乎十八至二十四歲的年輕男性，近八成受訪者承認曾瀏覽色情網站，對比女性只有三分之一人有此經驗。調查又發現年輕男子每周平均花兩小時瀏覽色情網站，百分之四人每周瀏覽超過十小時。

四分之一人憂影響感情和工作

有份負責調查的伍德醫生表示，四分之一的受訪者擔心自己看得太多色情網頁，影響與女伴的性生活、感情關係和工作。十九歲的伊文斯說：「看過色情網站的男孩，甚至期待女伴在床上表現有如AV女優。有男生甚至認為一個好的女朋友，在床上應該就像AV女優一樣。」

調查又指，每周觀看少於一小時的輕癮者指看色情網站已引起伴侶不悅，當中三分之一稱曾因此失約；而每周瀏覽超過十小時的重癮者，出現這情況的比率增加至五分之四。醫生將這類重癮者界定為「有問題和潛在強迫性」。

有網上性沉溺心理輔導員指出，過去接觸的個案多為中年單身男士，但近年愈來愈多女性和二十多歲的年輕人接觸他。

【本報訊】滑翔傘活動的熱門勝地大嶼山伯公坳,昨發生嚴重意外,一名中年「初哥」在操控滑翔傘起步之際遇上狂風,離地 1米高度滑翔 20多米後直撞大石全身骨折重傷,政府飛行服務隊接報後,飛抵現場拯救,惜傷者送往東區醫院後終告不治,警方對事件正深入調查。

僅受訓約三次

死者姓周( 50歲),已婚,為退休人士,近期愛好玩滑翔傘,但只是受訓過約三次。昨午 1時許,他與友人抵大嶼山東涌道近伯公坳位置開始練習滑翔傘,其友人包括資深玩滑翔傘者。
據稱,當時氣溫頗熱,但風速很大,一行三人上到山坡頂已氣來氣喘,友人見風速太大一度考慮暫停活動,又建議不如由資深友人協助,兩人坐一傘滑下離開現場。
周穿好裝備後,說既然來到,不如短距離試飛,獨自試一下,豈料在起飛離地 1米距離,突然狂風大作,他無法控制滑翔傘,結果滑行 20多米後直撞大石,全身骨折陷昏迷狀態。
友人目睹意外發生大吃一驚,立即趕往出事位置協助和報案,警方一度以為是行山人士失足墮山。

同行友人急救

周傷勢嚴重,兩人友人心感不妙,有人懂急救術曾作出協助。未幾,政府飛行服務隊直升機飛抵,在一處大平地降落,飛行護士立即搶救傷者,但狀況已轉差,直升機將傷者送往東區醫院,惜最終不治。
警方通知死者家人有關意外,其妻趕至醫院哭哭啼啼,認為丈夫死得不值。警方對事件仍深入調查,稍後需替死者剖屍檢驗,以確定致死原因。
據香港滑翔傘協會的幹事指出,參加該類運動的愛好者,必須接受專業訓練,並要通過考試才獲准獨自駕駛滑翔傘,導致意外的原因是多樣性,過往也曾發生過駕滑翔傘跌死的事件。

【本報訊】一名徒手潛水愛好者,昨午與家人前往西貢鹽田仔海灘徒手潛水,後來家人發現他全無影蹤,家人報警,消防蛙人和直升機進行海空搜索, 6個小時後被尋獲,證實死亡。有潛水專家指稱,徒手潛水若做得太多深呼吸,可以患上「淺水黑視症」,會在水中突然昏迷,潛水人士不應單獨活動。　記者:陳一亮

男事主姓梁 63歲,愛好徒手潛水,在水底摸蜆捉魚。昨午 1時許,天氣炎熱,西貢的氣溫高達攝氏 29度,他和家人到鹽田仔靠近滘西洲的海灘游泳兼徒手潛水,由於梁有經驗,故獨自活動,家人未察覺危險。據知,當時水底視野頗為清晰。
至下午 3時半,梁子發現父親尚未上岸,在附近找尋無影蹤,懷疑父親在徒手潛水期間遇溺失蹤,於是報案。
警方通知消防部門和政府飛行服務隊協助,派出多艘消防船連同水警輪在鹽田仔對開一帶水域搜索,又派蛙人潛入水中尋找。直升機不斷在上空盤旋,至傍晚時分天色漸黑,直升機暫撤離,但消防蛙人仍繼續分批落水搜索,晚上 9時半終將他尋獲,證實死亡。

深呼吸太多易突然昏迷

潛水歷險會課程總監區紹堅表示,使用氣樽的潛水會成員較少在鹽田仔海域潛水,主要是缺珊瑚觀賞,但亦有泳客選在該水域游泳或潛水捉魚,因地點方便。
區紹堅指出,進行徒手潛水活動,潛之前需深呼吸,做得次數太多便有可能患上「淺水黑視症」。正常情況下,當缺氧時大腦會出現刺激的訊號,但多次深呼吸後潛水,大腦誤以為氧量足夠,大腦組織漸失去缺氧警號,可導致徒手潛水者在水中突然昏迷遇溺。

結伴潛水減低意外風險

區勸告愛好潛水活動人士,無論如何都不應單獨落水,水底潛在很多危機,例如暗湧,或在礁石罅捉魚會被割傷等,出事後叫天不應、叫地不聞;若結伴同行,可互相照應,減低遇危險時釀嚴重意外之風險。
西貢是游泳和潛水活動熱門勝地,每年發生意外也特別多。去年 8月就有一名 61歲退休警員偕妻兒及友人到白腊灣遊船河,在船上跳入水中暢泳,疑體力不支遇溺,在水面不停掙扎,同船友人發現跳下將他救起運往白腊灣,再由直升機送院但返魂乏術。
鹽田仔昔日曾是曬鹽之地,島上仍留有百多年歷史小聖堂,周末周日吸引遊人坐街渡前往遊覽。

【本報訊】嚴重低血糖症的糖尿病人,患心血管疾病或死亡的風險,比一般糖尿病人分別高 2.8倍及 2.3倍;嚴重低血糖症更可引致腦癡呆。本港現時有 70萬人患糖尿病,內分泌及糖尿科專科醫生曹慧崐表示,理想血糖水平應介乎 3.9至 7.2,但患者會因進食不定時、過量使用降糖藥物等,出現低血糖症。

嚴重可引致腦癡呆

去年《新英格蘭醫學期刊》研究指出,近四成半二型糖尿病患者曾出現輕微低血糖症(水平低於 3.5), 2.1%更曾出現嚴重低血糖症(水平低於 2.8);嚴重低血糖症患者患大血管病、心血管病、死亡的風險,比一般糖尿病患者高 2.3倍至 2.8倍,嚴重可引致腦癡呆。
低血糖病徵包括冒冷汗、心跳加速、疲倦;有些患者會因腎病變、自主神經病變,身體敏感度減弱,就會出現無症狀低血糖症。她建議低血糖症患者在清醒狀態下,盡快進食最少 15克方糖或碳水化合物的食物,如半杯汽水、 2湯匙提子乾或 4茶匙糖,令血糖上升。

Measures to stop the so-called "big escape" among CID officers will be unveiled as early as next week, after an internal review of manpower and workload is completed, a source told Sing Tao Daily, sister publication of The Standard. The measures include setting up a support team to lessen administrative work and sending exhibits to the Government Laboratory. Procedures for claiming overtime pay will be simplified to allow officers to get up to HK$5,000. "We are dealing with the claims of overtime allowance in good faith," the source said. "If anyone falsely claims their working hours for allowance, it's a criminal matter and the police force will deal with the matter seriously." The threshold for uniformed officers to join the CID may also be lowered to two years' experience from three, provided officers with potential have completed a course in criminal investigation. The prerequisite of having completed training in the Police Tactical Unit will be lifted. Uniformed officers may be transferred to the department temporarily when some CID officers are on leave. There are 5,519 CID officers, about 100 less than the ideal number. Currently, policemen have special allowances of from HK$180 to HK$2,034 a month. But the allowance of a CID officer in detective grade is only HK$180 a month, the lowest among policemen on special duties. It is HK$678 for a police dog handler, for example, and HK$2,034 for a Special Duties Unit diver. 維他命 D除有助牙齒和骨骼發展,原來也可預防高血壓。美國艾默里大學研究團隊近日在美國心臟醫學院年度研討會上,發表一篇研究報告。研究人員找來 554名平均年齡 47歲的健康人士,利用儀器量度他們體內的維他命 D濃度和血壓指數,在撇除控制年齡、體重和膽固醇等因素後,發現體內維他命 D濃度較低的人,動脈會比較僵硬,血管功能也較差。
研究人員解釋,維他命 D可強化血管內皮細胞,並減少分泌一種會令血壓上升的荷爾蒙「血管緊縮素」,令血管周圍肌肉更強健和有彈性,從而減低罹患高血壓的風險。研究人員又提醒,要攝取維他命 D並不難,除牛奶、雞蛋和三文魚外,部份穀類食品也有添加維他命 D,甚至連曬太陽,身體也可將陽光中的紫外線轉化為維他命 D。

More than 100 Hong Kong celebrities will perform at a charity concert on Friday for relief efforts in Japan.

"Artistes 311 Love Beyond Borders" will be telecast live from Victoria Park from 7pm.

Singer Hacken Lee Hak- kan, actor Eric Tsang Chi- wai and model Angelababy are among those who will perform and appeal for donations during the four- hour concert.

"We, as members of the entertainment industry, wish to bring hope and support to the people in Japan," said action superstar Jackie Chan Kong- sang, one of the event's initiators. "We are also here to praise their tenacity in face of hardship."

About 100 celebrities assembled at RTHK yesterday to record the event's theme song, Succumb Not to Sorrow.

The organizing committee, comprising 18 organizations, aims to raise about HK$40 million for Salvation Army's direct relief efforts in Japan.

Simon Wong Kwok-ching, senior relief project officer, said its 80 community centers in Japan have been turned into emergency shelters for survivors, and it plans to expand efforts to provide more emergency items for the needy.

"Our colleagues in quake-affected areas reported they faced challenges when getting bottled water from retailers amid escalating fears about radioactive contamination," he said.

Meanwhile, pan-democrat lawmakers will hold a candlelight vigil on Sunday to mourn quake victims and to show support. Japanese consul- general Yuji Kumamaru will attend. It starts at 8pm in Statue Square in Central, said Democratic Party chairman Albert Ho Chun-yan.

They will fold origami cranes to symbolize peace and best wishes to Japanese residents, and raise funds for quake victims, with money going to the Hong Kong Red Cross.

Meanwhile, supermarkets and department stores are also pitching in. Wellcome's group marketing manager Annie Sin Pik-kwan said the company will donate HK$1 for each purchase of products from two designated brands, First Choice and No Frills, until Thursday.

A cash donation campaign running until April 14 will benefit World Vision.

YATA Japanese Department store in Sha Tin and Tai Po will host a large charity sale of accessory and fashion items next month, while donation boxes have been put in all CitySuper branches.

Daya Bay opens up to say nuclear danger is remote Colleen Lee  Friday, March 25, 2011 The management of the Daya Bay nuclear power station has sought to allay fears, saying the problems that are plaguing the Fukushima nuclear power plant are highly unlikely to repeat itself in Guangdong. Following the crisis in Japan, the company's nuclear safety expert, Chen Tai, also made it clear the chances of a nuclear explosion happening in Daya Bay are remote. "From the physics point of view, it is impossible to have a nuclear explosion [in the plant]," Chen said. He said a nuclear explosion occurs when the concentration of uranium-235 reaches more than 90 percent. "The concentration [of uranium] in Daya Bay is below 4 percent," Chen said. ADVERTISEMENT The Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Company yesterday opened the 17-year-old, two- reactor plant to the media. The plant, which supplies about 23 percent of the territory's electricity, lies about 50 kilometers from Hong Kong. Chen said Daya Bay is equipped with back-up power in case of an electricity failure. He stressed the reactor core can be cooled down even when there is no electricity. He also said there is little chance of the plant being hit by a tsunami as the sea around Daya Bay is just 20m to 30m deep and surrounding islands can act as natural shields. Nevertheless, walls as high as 16m above sea level run along the perimeter of the plant area. Daya Bay, he said, is on the Eurasian plate and about 1,000km west of the boundary of the Pacific plate and 2,000km east of the Indian plate. Since 288 AD, the most severe of the 46 earthquakes recorded within a 150km radius of the plant reached magnitude 6.1, he said. Daya Bay management plans to hold a massive drill in November. Qiao Enju, the firm's emergency expert, said: "During that drill, we may add some scenarios based on the ones to be drawn up following the Fukushima incident." When asked if the drill may take into account a scenario in which the plant's cooling systems fail to work after being hit by a tsunami - similar to Fukushima's problems - Qiao said they will wait until investigations into that incident are completed. "When the probe is done, the Daya Bay plant will learn from the Japanese experience and find out if there is any area that needs improvement," he said. Qiao said the drill may involve about 200 to 300 people drawn from various departments of the 3,000-strong workforce. The station usually holds two to three main drills every year, with the next one in June. The scenarios for the upcoming drill have basically been set, Qiao said.

Authorities banned food from five prefectures close to the stricken Fukushima nuclear power station on Wednesday. The cleared batches comprised seven brought in by sea and 22 by air. The ban was gazetted yesterday on dairy products, infant formula, vegetables and fruit produced in Fukushima, Tochigi, Gunma, Ibaraki and Chiba prefectures. The authorities dismissed the idea of a ban on all Japanese food and said it will only do so if there are reasonable grounds that these products are contaminated. ADVERTISEMENT Undersecretary for Food and Health Gabriel Leung said Hong Kong is maintaining a "double protection" system by inspecting all types of food imported from Japan. Other goods from the five affected prefectures have to obtain Japanese government health certificates before they are allowed in to the SAR. Leung said radiation checks on all imported Japanese goods were started on March 12. "We would not hesitate to adjust, vary or extend the ban order should new evidence suggest there are higher risk categories both in terms of food types or geography," Leung said. Three samples found contaminated were intercepted in port and were never on sale. Leung said the government will not remove the ban before a WHO expert group completes a comprehensive risk assessment conference. A Japanese consumer, Yuko Yoshicla, said: "I believe the Japanese food is safe. And I still eat Japanese food because I do not think the quality of Chinese food such as vegetables is good enough." Another shopper, Rika Hashimoto, said: "I have been eating Hong Kong organic food and Japanese food. Both of them are good. I would not reduce my consumption." Joanne Ko Ho-yan said: "I trust the Hong Kong government that the food on the market is safe. In addition, Japanese food has become an indispensable part of many Hong Kong people's lives. I cannot live without it."

一份筍工可以助人提升自信,改善生活,一份「衰工」則會影響精神健康,令人情緒失控。澳洲一項最新研究發現,打工仔長期忍受一份很差勁的工作,對精神健康的負面影響較長期失業還要嚴重;一份差勁工作的元素包括老闆要求多多、支援不足或薪酬偏低等。

追蹤研究逾七千人

澳洲國立大學一項研究追蹤 7,155名成年人的精神狀況,當中包括對工作現狀很滿意、騎牛搵馬、對現時工作極不滿但不能辭職、長期失業等多種類型的打工仔,再以填寫問卷方式為各人的精神狀況評分。
調查結果顯示與整體有工作的人士比較,失業的組別評分明顯較低;但若以工作滿意度計算,研究人員發現自覺工作很難忍的打工仔,精神健康評分竟較失業的組別還要低,最低分的一組則由失業,轉而任職一份很差勁的工作。

Novel ploys keep 'Jasmine' protesters at bay Colleen Lee and agencies  Monday, February 28, 2011 Large numbers of police using new tactics like shrill whistles and street- cleaning trucks yesterday dented pro- democracy protests in Beijing and other cities in a bid to prevent the kind of unrest that has shaken the Middle East. It was the second successive Sunday that police have been called out to squelch an online appeal urging people to gather at 2pm in more than 20 cities for subtle "strolling" protests at designated sites. Also, in an apparent bid to defuse a call for the weekly rallies, Premier Wen Jiabao pledged to tackle public concerns such as inflation, runaway growth and corruption. Yesterday, lines of police checked passers-by and warned journalists away in downtown Beijing and Shanghai after a US-based Chinese website spread calls for Chinese people to emulate the "Jasmine Revolution" sweeping the Middle East and stage gatherings in support of democratic change. Journalists who were led away included an ATV cameraman and a reporter as well as a TVB cameraman. The three Hong Kong journalists in the Wangfujing shopping street in Beijing were allowed to leave after questioning. ATV news reported it believed one of their clips showing the rally site in Wangfujing was deleted by officers. On February 20, a heavy police presence was put in place in many cities for the first so-called "Jasmine rally." In Shanghai yesterday, police bundled away at least seven men, one of whom was taking photos. Reuters TV filmed several policemen forcing a man in a  brown jacket into a Public Security Bureau van, while other police held up an umbrella to block the view. In Beijing, police with attack dogs were joined by uniformed and plainclothes officers who kept shoppers and journalists moving. Sanitation workers wearing armbands proclaiming they were "Public Security Volunteers" used brooms to sweep pedestrians along. It was impossible to tell who were simply shoppers and who had shown up to silently support the call to demonstrate. Security was evident throughout Wangfujing, one of the venues singled out as a protest site by the website Boxun.com. Shoppers strolled along but there were at least 40 public security vehicles at the southern end of the pedestrian-only street. Passage was partly blocked by construction fences that went up late in the week outside a McDonald's restaurant, which the Boxun message designated as a place for the gathering. The restaurant was shut down yesterday afternoon for about an hour. In Hong Kong, about 20 members of the League of Social Democrats held a rowdy protest outside the Central Government Liaison Office yesterday in support of the protests on the mainland.

【本報訊】別了去年潮濕翳熱天氣,渣打香港國際馬拉松昨日迎來凜冽寒風, 12度低溫冷卻萬名報名跑手熱情而缺席,但仍創歷史新高有逾 5.5萬人出賽,選手在清凉天氣下受傷個案大大減少。但無法參賽的輪椅客,以及被質疑黑箱作業斂財的主辦單位,讓盛事蒙上一層陰影。

今屆賽事有破紀錄的 6.5萬人報名,雖估計有近萬人「甩底」,但約 5.5萬人仍打破大會紀錄。天文台一度預測天氣又冷又濕,結果濕氣未有隨寒流而至,讓跑手們大呼天公造美,但 12度低溫仍教部份人吃不消,需披上報紙或垃圾袋保暖。
首項賽事為參加人數最多的 10公里賽,近 3.7萬人凌晨 5時分五批在東區走廊冒黑起跑。半馬及全馬稍後時間於尖沙嘴起步,賽程以「三隧三橋」中的西隧最要命,一段「旋轉斜」教不少跑手緩下腳步。

1100人抽筋九人送院

賽事期間至少發生四宗選手不適事故,多屬暈眩作嘔及撞傷意外, 1,100名跑手抽筋,較去年少約兩成,送院人士也由去年的 31人減至 9人,其中 7人已出院。
選手們大多滿意今年賽事安排,但主辦單位香港業餘田徑總會上月宣佈, 10公里輪椅賽因不足 10人報名取消, 40歲的 Ajmal Samuel昨坐輪椅到維園會場表達不滿。平機會主席林煥光表示已去信主辦單位,建議明年讓輪椅選手參加 10公里、半馬及全馬賽事。田總主席關祺回應稱,輪椅組參賽者只得兩人,故終止比賽,惟有希望明年能成功舉行。

渣馬常客鄧簡文一身龜兔賽跑打扮,手執吹氣搞屎棍及愛的風車,希望兔年一帆風順吹走樓市泡沫,烏龜憑毅力跑贏貪睡的兔仔。

田總歷年均沒公開馬拉松收支賬目,懷疑有人從中獲利,矛頭直指旗下公司神秘中標、為馬拉松提供晶片的田總首席副會長高威林。關祺昨承認馬拉松營運有盈餘,當中逾九成花在馬拉松組織工作,餘下一成撥歸田總作發展用途。他辯稱總會公開賬目存在技術困難,因牽涉贊助及供應商合約,「如果將個數字揚咗出來,咁就即係冇咗做 tender(招標)嘅意思」。
關祺未有提供實際盈餘數目,強調田總獲政府撥款資助,但「馬拉松我哋完全冇同政府攞資源」。他又指總會其他使費如運動員到外地比賽的資助、馬拉松增聘人手及發獎金等均屬自負盈虧,需透過有盈餘項目如馬拉松「取上補下」。
本報昨日收到一名自稱田總會員來函,指高威林公司提供的黑色計時晶片也屬斂財伎倆,該晶片成本較毋須歸還的晶片昂貴,參賽者必須付 100元按金,賽後必須歸還主辦單位,該會員質疑公司為何不改用毋須歸還晶片,多年來公司收取的按金又去了哪裏。田總昨晚未有回覆本報提問。

天公造美,馬拉松健兒在清爽天氣下踏上昂船洲大橋,一鼓作氣穿越西區海底隧道,揮着熱汗衝過維園終點線。不少情侶結伴同跑,手牽手互相扶持。
29歲的 Ray今年首次參加半馬賽事,早有計劃在維園終點區求婚,給愛侶 Mabel一個大驚喜,「希望可以同佢跑埋人生下半段路」。他在百德新街接過印有「 Marry Me(嫁給我)」的紙牌,一直高舉跑向終點,沿途市民及跑手都為他打氣歡呼。 Mabel甜笑表示遠遠看到男友舉着紙牌,還以為「佢贏咗啲唔知乜嘢獎」,看真一點才知中獎的其實是自己,當場答應求婚,為四年多的戀情展開新一頁。

赤足留血印　為貧童籌款

現年 24歲的「赤腳大仙」馮允謙,昨日第二度以裸足跑遍 42公里瀝青路,義行估計能籌得 10萬元善款,轉交內地助學團體「愛心力量」,為山區貧童買鞋買文具。

跑經爛路痛不欲生

聾啞與視障參賽者互相扶持,一線相連,同步邁向終點。

馮允謙表示去年天氣差加上首次參賽,終點前一段路都是抽搐着雙腿死撐走回來;今年雖然跑得舒服,但西隧前一段爛路讓他痛不欲生,「行到去已經感覺到隻腳生咗水泡,後尾直情見到血絲,先知係血泡」。是堅定意志與貧童笑容,支持他一步一血印走下去。
阿謙曾是香港龍舟代表隊成員,去年聽聞很多山區兒童每日要赤足上學,決定省下買波鞋的零用錢捐到內地,並首次赤腳跑全馬感動身邊人捐款。去年底出戰亞運後,他即積極備戰馬拉松,本來有朋友陪他一起裸足行,但友人前日不適入院,他希望明年有更多人與他一起以雙腳感受大地,助山區兒童脫貧並遠離苦厄。
此外, 16名視障及聽障人士組成猛龍隊,由聾啞人士為失明人士領航,齊齊在一個半小時內完成 10公里賽事。何先生則領着雙耳完全失聰的女友,一起參加 10公里賽事,享受行街、食飯、睇戲以外的甜蜜。何先生謂與女友讀中學時認識,同學堆中她特別看得懂他的唇語,溝通多了便漸漸走在一起,眨眼便三個年頭。本報記者

跑馬拉松會上癮, 57歲的吳志明千禧年首次參加全馬,自此欲罷不能,由日本、台灣到德國、法國,不同的風光,一樣的距離,至昨日已跑了人生第 89個馬拉松。今年 10月,如無意外將迎接人生第 100個馬拉松,他指參加馬拉松可以挑戰自我,周遊列國,還有機會與世界好手同場競技,「全世界有邊樣運動,業餘嘅可以同專業嘅喺同一條起跑線出發?」

10月跑第 100場賽事

吳志明一直有行山習慣,千禧年有朋友叫他參加馬拉松,自此上癮,除本港賽事外,還到其他國家參賽。兩年前退休,時間更充裕,跑得更頻繁,去年共跑了 22個馬拉松,在紐約更碰上埃塞俄比亞世界級好手,今年頭兩個月已跑了四次,下周他又會飛到東京參賽。他指渣馬活動一路進步,但仍較其他地方遜色,「差在氣氛同組織能力,人哋係全民參與,喺日本東京跑,係成個市區封晒路,過百萬人上街同你打氣」。
今年 10月,他將會迎接人生第 100場馬拉松,目的地是大阪或北京,「 100次只係暫時中途目標,都會一路一路發展下去」。他最希望參加倫敦馬拉松,「因為佢每年要抽籤,你又未必報到名抽籤」。本報記者

青馬橋上風光好

已經第六年跑渣打馬拉松,只是每次的成績都距預期有點差距。去年操練算充足,成績卻幾乎是歷屆最差;今年一再碰上小毛病延誤操練,卻跑出歷來第二快成績,到西隧入口的時候還夢想可以首次在四小時內完成賽事(可惜還只是個夢)。
當中的關鍵是天氣。馬拉松大概是最講究天時、地利、人和結合的運動。幾個小時在路上跑,天氣熱一點,濕度高一點就足以抵銷幾個星期操練的成績,令人消耗過度,舉步維艱。去年二十多度的高溫加上「擰」得出水的空氣就讓大家吃盡苦頭,脫水抽筋的比比皆是,更有人休克及神志不清,差點搞出人命。今年跟去年比簡直是天堂與地獄。天氣不太冷不太熱,沿途凉風吹送,太陽又躲在雲後,沒有煎熬在捱里數的市民跑手。泊在汀九橋附近讓棄權者坐的巴士看不到有人上車,面容扭曲、上氣唔接下氣的情景也少見,碰到的跑手都信心滿滿,步履輕盈,也許都在做着破紀錄之夢。
賽道跟去年沒分別,同樣跑遍昂船洲、青馬、汀九三條大橋。幾條大橋的風光各有特色,各有各的壯麗。每次跑過都深深覺得特區政府的規劃着實不行,着實追不上時代。要是這些大橋像三藩市金門橋那樣在設計時預留行人通道及單車徑,那不單馬拉松跑手也可欣賞橋上的獨特風景,一般市民也有機會走上幾十層樓高的大橋,俯瞰貨櫃港及昂船洲;還可以在馬拉松賽時一邊看風景一邊為跑手打氣。將來再搞甚麼大橋或基建,可不要再把行人、騎單車者拒諸橋外。
跑友阿陽老覺得渣打馬拉松不好玩,太一板一眼。他的批評是有道理的。主辦單位的確太着重效率與規程;沿途提供的食物、飲料選擇又極少,往往只有半生不熟的香蕉,教跑手只能像苦行僧那樣盡快捱完全程,再盡快找點熱騰騰又美味的東西果腹。若果能讓家人朋友帶點私伙美食在某些 check point慰勞一下跑手,或至少找供應商贊助一些熱騰騰的「馬拉糕」、「馬拉卷」讓跑手在進入西隧前充充電,相信西隧及出口的斜路不會再成為「傷心丘」,跑手及家人朋友也可以玩得更投入!

【本報訊】一年一度渣打馬拉松今晨 5時 15分開跑,港九新界多處地區實施封路措施。有運動專家指出,今早天氣顯著轉冷及濕度偏高,巿區只有 12℃,參賽選手跑後應馬上穿衣保暖,以及補充水份及澱粉質,以盡快恢復體力。

賽後應即保暖補充熱量

今日舉行渣打馬拉松賽事共有破紀錄的 6.5萬人參加。港鐵提早於凌晨 3時 25分開出頭班車,接載跑手前往維園及尖沙嘴賽事起點。港九新界部份地區凌晨 1時起分階段封路,包括青馬大橋、汀九橋、西區海底隧道、東區走廊及尖沙嘴多條道路,預計至下午兩時全面解封,其間 180多條巴士及小巴線改道或暫停服務。運輸署表示,預計港島區多條道路的交通,會較平時周日擠塞,呼籲駕駛者忍讓。
天文台預測今日多雲潮濕,有薄霧及幾陣雨,早上溫度介乎 12至 15℃。浸會大學體育學系副教授雷雄德表示,今晨溫度適合長跑,但由於有雨及濕度較高影響散熱,選手容易疲倦或過熱,會對速度有影響。選手即使不覺口乾,每到一個水站亦應補充水份,並留意有否心跳加快及冒汗。
雷雄德強調,天氣寒冷選手跑畢後必須馬上穿衣保暖,以及進食大會安排的高能量食物及飲品,若出現抽筋,可到大會的按摩區按摩。選手賽後應馬上回家冲熱水浴及睡覺,此舉有助盡快恢復體力;完成賽事後 48小時內,更不要喝酒及咖啡,以防體內水份流失。選手應以 1比 1.5的標準來補充流失的水份,即跑後體重輕了 1公斤,便要補充 1.5公升的水份。

殘障運動員不滿撤賽事

今屆渣打馬拉松原本增設輪椅賽事,最後因參加人數不足宣佈取消,一直爭取渣打馬拉松增設輪椅賽的下肢殘障半職業運動員 Ajmal Samuel不滿大會沒有誠意,欠缺宣傳,今日會聯同其他殘障運動員到維園賽事終點處抗議。
此外,有本地馬拉松參賽者王小姐投訴,指大會安排她昨日最後一天到維園領取跑手包,她因遲了半小時到達,遭拒派發跑手包,變相被取消參賽資格。她不滿職員處理手法欠彈性。

【本報訊】擁有全港最多快速公路的新界南總區，去年有 25宗致命交通意外，較前年激增近四成，增幅是全港之冠，該區超速個案也增加 13%。警方表示，去年底添置的 235部新款寶馬 R900RT大型電單車，最高時速可達 195公里，十分適宜在快速公路行駛，將有助警方打擊超速違例情況。　記者：謝明明

去年警方共接獲 14,727宗交通意外，較前年微升 3%，導致 18,795人死傷。當中新界南總區致命交通意外升幅最大，由 18宗增至 25宗，升幅達 39%，導致 27人死亡。該區交通意外成因主要是汽車失控，有 469宗，較前年激增逾 112%，其次是疏忽駕駛及汽車突然改變方向，分別有 435宗及 358宗。

新界南交通部（執行及管制組）總督察李永強接受訪問時表示，該區最多交通違例個案是超速，有 2.7萬多宗，較前年上升 13.7%，相信與區內擁有 14條快速公路有關。此外，駕駛時無用免提裝置聽手提電話也有 9,381宗。李指現時警方的寶馬 R850RT和本田 VFR800s電單車已分別使用超過 10和 6年，為提高執法能力及保障前線人員安全，警方去年新購每部售價 16.9萬元的寶馬 R900RT電單車共 235部，以全面取代舊款寶馬電單車及部份本田電單車。新界南交通部（執行及管制組）高級督察余國峰指出，新款寶馬電單車馬力達 900cc，最高時速達 195公里，電單車的風擋可因應駕駛者身形調節，「唔止可以有效擋風擋雨，仲可以令部車行得更穩定」。車上的警示燈改用 LED環保燈，提高亮度；車身側箱體積也因應實際需求增大，以便放置更多裝備。余續稱，新款寶馬電單車無論馬力、時速、安全及穩定性均較現有的優勝，最適宜在快速公路行駛，相信有助警方於快速公路追截超速等違例駕駛罪行。
